Hey! My name is Nicole and I am the owner and baker of Laker’s Barkery. All treats are locally handmade in Winter Haven, FL. The inspiration of Laker’s Barkery all started from becoming a new dog mom to Laker at the young age of 8 weeks old.

Laker is a unique golden retriever who is full of life and heart. Laker has overcome many obstacles in his life. He was diagnosed around 6 months old with seizures, nystagmus, and anxiety. From that moment on, I knew I would need to be the advocate for his health and would need to provide the best life possible for him.

Laker takes daily medications and continues to experience seizures that are much more controlled at this point in his life (he is 10+ years old!). There was a point when Laker was around 2-3 years old that I realized that there were multiple treats being recalled for harming people’s pets. I started to dig into some research of what kinds of foods would be safe for dogs.

​

After that moment, that’s where the fun started! I started tweaking recipes and finding what would be the healthiest treat possible for our dogs. With a lot of trial and error, I feel that I have finally created treats that I feel passionate about that DO NOT contain any preservatives. Any treats that you see available in our store today will contain a fruit or vegetable (sometimes both), eggs, and gluten free flour. Some may have whole grain oats added as well, please refer to ingredients listed on each listing.

Since Laker’s Barkery has been created, we have added a new member to our taste testing crew, Roxy! Roxy is a Catahoula cur and Laker’s BFF. These two are very loyal to the business and are always down to taste any new flavor. If you’re local and you catch us at an event, you may meet Roxy! She enjoys sitting in a chair and greeting everyone with a stare down and wiggly nubby.
